HAINES CITY | On homecoming night at Landmark Christian, the Patriots used a big second half to down All Saints 42-6 Friday night to clinch the Sunshine State Athletic Conference’s South Division.
Landmark Christian was without leading rusher Keland White and leading receiver Rob Louis, the Patriots looked elsewhere for production.
Jaime Miranda rushed for 154 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Darion Griner added 105 yards on the ground.
“We’ve got a lot of talent even without them (White and Louis) on the field”, Landmark coach, Mark Burdon said.
The Patriots (6-2, 4-0) pulled away by scoring on their final five possessions of the game, including touchdowns runs by Miranda of 15 and 32 yards.
With 10 seconds to play in the half, Landmark quarterback Seth Johnson carried out a play fake and hit Jawuan Mathis for a 6-yard-score to give the Patriots a 7-0 halftime lead.
All Saints (0-6, 0-3) forced a turnover on the opening kickoff off the second half and scored its first offensive touchdown of the year.
On third-and-17 from Landmark Christian’s 18-yard-line, Patrick Fox found John Cook in the corner of the end zone.
Landmark Christian, however, finally broke away and improved to 6-2 and clinch the SSAC’s South Division.
The Patriot will remain home next Friday against Mandarin Christian while All Saints will host Bishop McLaughlin.
