Tremendous Ten: Lake Gibson Defensive Line Piles Up Sacks

1 Lake Gibson's defensive line had eight sacks against Kathleen on Friday to help the Braves clinch a district runner-up spot in Class 6A, District 10. Trent Taylor, Ray Lewis and Reuben Jones each had two sacks and Devante Terrell and Alex Potter one.

2 Lake Region junior kicker Hunter Ratcliffe had three field goals, including a 36-yarder with 6.7 seconds left, to give the Thunder a 29-27 win over Haines City.

3 Ridge Community freshman golfer Sam Horsfield shot a 71 on Oct. 24 to qualify for the Class 2A state tournament.

4 Tenoroc junior golfer Kayla Connors shot an 81 on Oct. 24 to get into the Class 1A state tournament.

5 George Jenkins senior Karla Thiele had 24 kills and 23 digs to help the Eagles win the Class 7A, district 7 volleyball title Oct. 27 over Lakeland.

6 All Saints sophomore setter Christine Brooker had 64 assists in the Class 2A, District 8 volleyball tournament last week. She had 33 in the final match against Victory Christian, setting her at second all-time in the school's record book for assists in a game.

7 George Jenkins sophomore Kyliegh Friman won a district title in the 50 free and placed second in the 100 butterfly Thursday at the Class 3A, District 4 meet.

8 Winter Haven sophomore I.V. Simons won Class 2A, District 7 titles in the 100 breaststroke and 200 IM last Friday and also helped the Blue Devils win the 200 medley relay.

9 Winter Haven senior David Lambert won Class 2A, District 7 titles in the 50 free and 100 free and also helped the Blue Devils win the 200 medley relay.

10 Fort Meade junior DeVante Clark rushed for 264 yards and a touchdown on Friday against Auburndale.
