Two offensive linemen from Lake Gibson have committed to play football for Florida Institute of Technology, a Division II program that will make its debut in the sport in 2013.
Glenn Nichols and Chris Sadler made their decisions last week. Florida Tech is based in Melbourne and will compete in the Gulf South Conference with Delta State, the University of West Florida and the University of West Georgia, among others.
Sadler was the center for the Braves this season and Nichols started out as the right tackle but missed playing in the regular season after tearing his ACL in the preseason classic.
"They've been best pals since they were little guys so it's great that they have an opportunity to play together at the next level," Lake Gibson offensive line coach Dan Morse said.
"I think it's going to be a great thing. We really want to go in there and start the program off well," said Sadler, who plans on majoring in international business. Nichols will pursue electrical engineering.
