Lake Wales coach Matthew Barton got his first varsity win of his career in the teams 4-3 win over Mulberry.
Barton was thrown into the fire after head coach Andres Rojas wife went into labor.
“I’m proud of him (Barton),” Rojas said. “I was texting the JV coaches during the game to get updates.”
Barton’s first win wouldn’t come without some late heroics from Diego Adan.

Rojas wasn’t the only card missing from the Highlanders deck though.
Starting net minder Chicho Garcia was unable to make it so Barton used the third goaltender in line.
