Auburndale's Sydney Bailey Scores Critical Goals for District Title

1- Auburndale sophomore forward Sydney Bailey scored two goals, including the game winner, to lift the Bloodhounds to the Class 3A, District 13 championship over Winter Haven on Friday.
2- George Jenkins' senior forward Tori Abnathy scored four goals in the Class 4A, District 7 title game on Friday to help the Eagles blank Bartow. Abnathy leads the county in goals scored this season with 46.
3- Lakeland Christian sophomore Josie Koretchko had two goals for the Vikings on Friday in a 6-0 win over Santa Fe Catholic for the Class 1A, District 6 title.
4- Frostproof freshman goalkeeper Moriah McCullers blocked two penalty kicks in the Class 2A, District 10 title game to help the Bulldogs secure a district title over Mulberry.
5- Junior forward/center Shanti Groover set a school record with eight blocks against Sarasota Riverview on Jan. 14. Groover has 37 blocks this season.
6- Winter Haven senior guard Devon Walker scored 24 points in a district game against Kathleen on Friday. Walker leads the county in points per game with 27 for the Blue Devils.
7- Bartow freshman Amerika Gallegos scored the game-winning goal late in the second half to give Bartow a 3-2 win over Kathleen in the first round of the Class 4A, District 7 tournament on Monday.
8- Victory Christian senior Michelle King scored 45 points and grabbed 25 rebounds against All Saints on Friday. The high-scoring performance comes one week after she scored 51 points and grabbed 27 rebounds against the same team.
9- Lakeland's Eric Moody led the Dreadnaughts to their first three-win week. Moody had 21, 23 and 16 points in wins over Bartow, Ridge Community and Lake Gibson. He is averaging 19.6 points per game and is shooting 80 percent from the free-throw line.
10- Bartow junior guard Zykira Lewis put up 54 points in two games on limited playing time last week.
