Tremendous Ten: Charlie Eaves Scores Critical PK to Lift LCS to Regional Finals

1 - Lakeland Christian sophomore Charlie Eaves scored the game-winning penalty kick Friday, to help LCS advance to the Class 1A girls regional finals in soccer. The Vikings beat First Academy 3-2 in PKs, then beat Tampa Prep 1-0 in the regional final Tuesday.

 

2 - Tenoroc junior Karlos Odum scored his 1,000th career point Friday against Auburndale.

3 - Lake Gibson's wrestling squad won the Brian Bain County Invitational on Saturday. Skyler Moody (113), Brandon Jorge (138), Chase Krutzky (145) and Devante Terrell (285) all won titles for the Braves.

4 - Kathleen senior wrestler Jonathan Meggars won his first county wrestling title at 195 pounds Saturday to remain undefeated, 35-0, heading into the district tournament. Mulberry senior Nino Cerna (126), Lake Wales junior John Kimbrough (120) and Frostproof junior Clayton Farrer (160) also won titles. Cerna is now 48-2 heading into the district tournament, and Farrer 30-1.

5 - Lakeland seniors Kevin Miller (132), Eric Wortman (152) and Alec Nutting (220) won county wrestling titles to help the Dreadnaughts finish in second place at the Brian Bain County Invitational on Saturday.

6 - George Jenkins senior Colin Maisch had three assists to help the Eagles' capture the Class 4A, District 7 title on Friday.

7 - Auburndale freshman Calahan Warren had a goal and an assist to help the Bloodhounds win the Class 3A, District 13 championship Friday.

8 - George Jenkins senior Aaron Brown (182) and freshman Matt Bedonbough (106) each won county wrestling titles for the Eagles on Saturday. Bedonbough was the second freshman in school history to win one.

9 - Fort Meade junior Jack Cortez took part in scoring the go-ahead goal against Lakeland Christian in the Class 1A, District 6 title game Friday. He also had the game-winner against Santa Fe Catholic to get the Miners into the championship.

10 - Lake Region junior Brent Moore scored twice against Ridge Community on Jan. 26., to help the Thunder advance to earn a regional playoff spot in Class 4A.
