Tremendous Ten: Alec Nutting Wins His First Regional Title in Brutal Region

1- Lakeland senior Alec Nutting pinned his way through the Class 3A, Region 2 wrestling tournament Saturday en route to winning his first regional title. Nutting, who competes at 220 pounds, heads into the state finals with a 32-2 record.
2 - Ridge Community shooting guard Terry Rose scored 44 points in a Class 7A, District 7 semifinal game against top-seed George Jenkins on Feb. 8.
3- Lake Gibson senior wrestler Brandon Jorge won his fourth regional title on Friday at the Class 2A, Region 2 tournament. Jorge, who competes at 138 pounds, heads into states with a 20-0 record.
4 - Winter Haven senior guard DeVon Walker scored 30 points in the Class 6A, District 9 boys basketball title game Friday to lift the Blue Devils to victory.
5- Mulberry's David Prindiville (182), Lake Gibson's Skyler Moody (113) and Frostproof's Clayton Farrer (160) all won regional titles late last week.
6- Lakeland senior forward Jadrian Clark had the game-winning steal for the Dreadnaughts in the Class 7A, District 7 title game against Ridge Community on Friday.
7 - Kathleen basketball players Destiny Small and My'Esha Williams helped lift the Red Devils past Tarpon Springs in a Class 6A girls basketball regional quarterfinal Feb. 9. Small, a freshman, had 17 points and eight rebounds, and Williams, a senior, added 16 points, nine rebounds, five assists and four steals.
8- McKeel Academy freshman Corey Sanders had 20 points Friday to help the Wildcats beat Lakeland Christian in the Class 3A, District 7 championship game.
9 - Mulberry junior softball player Autumn Terwilliger went 7-for-8 with eight runs, three RBIs, a double, two triples and a home run to help the Panthers win all three games in their opening week.
10 - Vanguard basketball players Thierry Frederic and Shaka McGriff helped the Panthers capture the Class 2A, District 7 title Saturday. Frederic had 17 points, McGriff 15.
