Class 3A Boys Tennis: Jenkins Beats Chamberlain 4-1, Bartow Loses at Tampa King 7-0

George Jenkins beat Chamberlain on its home courts 4-1 while Bartow traveled to Tampa King and lost 7-0.

The Eagles will face King at home on Thursday in the regional final.

Jenkins' No. 1 Gavin White cruised through his match against Harry Fisher to win 6-2, 6-1.

Eagles' coach Gregg Mays is taking his squad to the regional finals for the first time after losing the regional semifinals from 2009-2011.

"I'm very proud of them," Mays said.

The Yellow Jackets' standout season came to an abrupt end.

"They (the Lions) were a very strong ball club," Bartow coach Michael Brennan, who will lose four seniors from his top seven, said. "Next season will be a rebuilding year."
