Class 1A Track: LCS's Mutz Finishes Fourth in State 3200 Meters

JACKSONVILLE | Lakeland Christian's Mark Mutz was the top Polk County finisher in the Class 1A state track meet Friday, finishing fourth in the 3200 meters Friday at the University of North Florida.
Mutz finished with a time of 9 minutes, 27.25 seconds, finishing less than seven seconds behind winner Daniel Moore of Holy Trinity (9:20.49).
Lakeland Christian's T.J. Simmons, who competed in three events, finished fifth in the 200 in 22.65 seconds. He false-started in the 100 meters and was 15th in the long jump (14 feet, 2.75 inches).
Also earning points for LCS was pole vaulter Mitch Devore, who finished eighth with a vault of 12 feet, 6 inches.
McKeel's Jake Gandy earned a point for the Wildcats in the triple jump finishing eighth with a jump of 43 feet, 5 inches.
In the girls’ meet, Lakeland Christian’s Mallory White was the only athlete to earn points. She finished eighth in the 800 meters in 2 minutes, 21.24 seconds.

200 Meters – 5. T.J. Simmons, Lakeland Christian, 22.65
3200 Meters – 4. Mark Mutz, Lakeland Christian, 9:27.25
