Tremendous Ten: Bartow's Shelby Duncan Hits .714 in State Tournament

1- Bartow senior catcher Shelby Duncan went 5-for-7 with a .714 batting average in two games in the Class 7A state sotfball tournament last week. She got on base seven of eight times and scored four runs for the Yellow Jackets, who lost to Tampa Chamberlain 9-8 in the finals on Saturday.
2- Auburndale junior catcher Meghan Lindell went 2-for-3 with a grand slam in the Class 5A state semifinal game against American Heritage Plantation on May 8. The Bloodhounds rallied after being down 9-1, but not enough, losing 11-6.
3- All Saints' Academy senior pitcher Carson Fulmer struck out 30 in two regional playoff games for the Saints. In the Class 2A regional semifinals on May 8, he also drove in the game-winning run. The Saints are the lone Polk County baseball team to advance to the state tournament.
4- Bartow junior pitcher Lauren West tossed a no-hitter in the Class 7A state softball semifinals on Friday against Tallahassee Chiles. She struck out 11 in the game and only allowed two batters on base all night in the 5-0 win.
5- Winter Haven senior pitcher Tyler Pike picked up two wins in the playoffs to help his team get to the Class 6A regional baseball finals. In a 4-3 regional quarterfinal win over Land O'Lakes on May 3, Pike struck out 11 in seven innings, giving up five hits and one earned run.
6- Bartow senior center fielder Wanda Darby went 5-for-10 with a .500 batting average in two games in the Class 7A state softball tournament last week. She also drove in three runs for the Yellow Jackets.
7- Lake Wales senior pitcher Jose "Flaco" Hernandez combined on a two-hitter with junior Taylor Cockrell in the Class 5A regional baseball semifinal game against Rockledge on May 9. Hernandez also drove in the game winning run for the Highlanders.
8- All Saints senior Garrett Doyle pitched a complete game, allowing just four hits and striking out five in All Saints' 2-1 victory over Central Florida Christian in a Class 2A regional baseball final on Friday.
9- Bartow junior third baseman Rachel Imig went 4-for-7 with a .571 batting average in two games in the Class 7A state softball tournament last week. Imig got on base six out of eight times and also drove in a run.
10- Winter Haven junior infielder Matt Saliba had all three of the Blue Devils' hits in the Class 6A regional final against Lakewood Ranch. Saliba had two singles and a double in the 4-1 loss.
