LAKELAND | Sophomores Christian Alexander and T.J. Simmons had big first half performances to lead Lakeland Christian to a 42-0 victory over Tampa Cambridge Christian in both teams' preseason kickoff classic before 1,348 at Vikings stadium.
Alexander completed 10 of 11 passes for 145 yards and threw for one touchdown and Simmons ran for 106 yards and a touchdown on just three carries for the Vikings.
"We practiced all summer and put a good performance on the field," Alexander said.
The news wasn't all good for the Vikings though as Simmons twisted his right knee with 1:43 left in the first quarter.
Vikings coach Wayne Peace said Simmons will be re-evaluated today to check the severity of the injury.
The Vikings also got another big performance out of junior Rafael Pressley, who rushed for 49 yards and three touchdowns after taking over at running back for Simmons.
The Vikings' defense also shined as they held the Lancers to 58 yards of total offense, including -15 rushing yards.
Lakeland Christian will host Bradenton Christian next Friday night.
