Victory Christian Defensive Tackle Chris Nelson Commits To Virginia

LAKELAND | Chris Nelson could possibly follow in his former teammates' big footsteps. Late Sunday night, Nelson, a junior defensive tackle and tight end for Victory Christian, verbally committed to play football at the University of Virginia. Demeitre Brim, a standout at Victory last season, is currently at UVA as a freshman.

"Demeitre had an impact and the coaching staff showed me a lot of love when I went up with him for the spring game," Nelson said.

"They said I had good footwork and that I was aggressive and they liked those things."

Nelson, who stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 270 pounds, picked up the offer in July. He had also received interest from LSU, Florida, Miami and Tennessee.
