Walker Brothers Lead Dreadnaughts to Rout: Lakeland 42, Tenoroc 0

LAKELAND | Lakeland ran for 274 yards and dominated on defense to beat Tenoroc 42-0 before 2,200 fans at Bryant Stadium on Friday night.

 

Freshman Gabriel Walker ran for 83 yards on three carries, including a 75-yard gallop late in the third quarter for the Dreadnaughts (2-0).

 

Walker also had a 2-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter. Walker's brother, senior quarterback Isaiah Walker, also ran for 86 yards and two touchdowns to lead Lakeland on the ground. 

 

Sophomore Ra'Don Dwight also ran for 41 yards, including a 7-yard touchdown run in the second quarter for Lakeland.

 

"I did very good and we can always improve and do better," Dwight said.

 

The Dreadnaughts held Tenoroc to one first down and 26 total yards of offense in the first half while taking a 21-0 advantage at the half. Lakeland got off to a slow start and didn't pick up a first down until late in the first quarter.

 

"The defense played steady all night," Lakeland coach Bill Castle said. Senior Darius Frasier ran for 40 yards to lead the Tenoroc offense. Lakeland finished the game with 321 yards on offense to the Tenoroc 111.

 

Tenoroc (0-2) will host Poinciana, while Lakeland will host Flanagan next Friday night.
