Auburndale at Lake Gibson
■ RECORDS: Auburndale 0-2, Lake Gibson 2-0.
■ QUICK HITS: Auburndale lost to Bartow, 27-7 last week in a game filled with penalties. Bartow was flagged 20 times for 204 yards, and Auburndale was called for 14 penalties for 129 yards. Running back Charles Taylor scored the lone touchdown for Auburndale, which only mustered 14 yards through the air. Lake Gibson started out the season on a sour note, losing to Lakeland 23-0, but have had solid outings in wins against George Jenkins and Lake Wales. The running game has stood out, with Tyler Brown leading the way. The Iowa State commit is second in the county with 275 yards rushing.

Bartow at Lake Region
■ RECORDS: Bartow 2-0, Lake Region 0-2.
■ QUICK HITS: Bartow has some work to do in the penalties category. The Yellow Jackets had 204 yards of them against Auburndale last week but still managed to come out on the winning end. Kicker Alex Montes was key, kicking field goals of 46 and 42 yards. He also averaged 42.5 yards on four punts. Lake Region was without quarterback LT Thompson last week – he sat out with a sore shoulder – but he will be a game-time decision, coach Steve Reynolds said.

Haines City at Fort Meade
■ RECORDS: Haines City 1-1, Fort Meade 1-1.
■ QUICK HITS: Haines City got roughed up last week against Winter Haven, but running back Dacorius Law still managed to break off 80 yards rushing. The biggest problems are on the offensive line, which coach Pete Barber is still shoring up. Fort Meade beat Lake Region handily last week despite not having starting linebacker/running back De’Vante Clark (shoulder). He will likely return this week. Backup Ryan Fulse rushed for 130 yards.
■ ADMISSION: $6.
DeSoto at Frostproof
■ RECORDS: DeSoto 2-0, Frostproof 2-0.
■ QUICK HITS: DeSoto beat Sebring and Okeechobee handily in the first two weeks. Frostproof also has a perfect record, mostly on the heels of freshman quarterback Toddrick Gaines, who leads the county in rushing touchdowns with five. Cecil Cherry, a linebacker has also had a solid start, registering 19 tackles through two contests. Frostproof coach Price Harris said DeSoto likes to pound the ball.

Winter Haven at George Jenkins
■ RECORDS: Winter Haven 2-0, George Jenkins 0-2.
■ QUICK HITS: Jenkins led against Kathleen last week until the final 1:35. Trent Rains rushed for 124 yards, and Tanner Reeves registered five sacks. Adam Lane was 6 yards shy of the 200-yard mark against Haines City, a game Winter Haven won 56-7.
■ ADMISSION: $6.
Kathleen at Ridge Community
■ RECORDS: Kathleen 2-0, Ridge Community 2-0.
■ QUICK HITS: Kathleen rallied to beat George Jenkins last week, 20-18, with the help of two big pass plays from quarterback A’Treyu Farrior to Ja’Von Harrison. Kathleen should return two offensive lineman who were injured two weeks ago. Ridge gets its first real test in Kathleen. Ridge routed Tenoroc and Mulberry in the first two weeks.

Flanagan at Lakeland
■ RECORDS: Flanagan 2-0, Lakeland 2-0.
■ QUICK HITS: Broward-based Flanagan beat Douglas 42-36 last week and comes into the contest 2-0. Running back Hans Supre had 107 yards on eight carries. Lakeland routed Tenoroc, 48-0, last Friday. The Sun Sentinel in its high school football preview said Flanagan would have “talent and speed to compete” despite being young at skill positions. Lakeland has only allowed 94 yards of offense against its first two opponents.

Avon Park at Mulberry
■ RECORDS: Mulberry 0-2, Avon Park 0-2.
■ QUICK HITS: Both teams come in hungry looking for their first win of the year. Mulberry only mustered 32 yards of offense last week in a 21-0 loss to surging Ridge Community. Avon Park has been shut out by Frostproof and Hardee.
■ ADMISSION: $6.
Poinciana at Tenoroc
■ RECORDS: Poinciana 1-1, Tenoroc 0-2.
■ QUICK HITS: Tenoroc searches for its first win and its first points of the season after being shut out by Lakeland and Ridge Community in the first two weeks. The Titans handled Poinciana 20-14 last year but the Eagles are coming off a 46-40 win over Celebration.
■ ADMISSION: $6.
All Saints at Community School of Naples
■ RECORDS: All Saints NA, Community School of Naples 1-1.
■ QUICK HITS: Community School of Naples quarterback Drew Tomaini threw for 379 yards and two TDs in a 33-22 win over Out-of-Door Academy last week.
■ ADMISSION: $6.
Merritt Island Christian at Landmark Christian
■ RECORDS: Merritt Island 2-0, Landmark 2-0.
■ QUICK HITS: This is a clash of undefeated teams. The Patriots destroyed Santa Fe 52-0 last week, getting touchdowns from seven different players. Quarterback Seth Johnson fired three TD passes in the win. The Merritt Island defense has only yielded three points in two games combined.
■ ADMISSION: $6.
Orlando Christian at Santa Fe Catholic
■ RECORDS: Santa Fe 0-1, Orlando 0-1.
■ QUICK HITS: Santa Fe dropped a 52-0 opener to Landmark Christian last week and offensively did not gain one first down. Orlando Christian lost its opener to Orangewood Christian 21-12.
■ ADMISSION: $6.
