Braves Pour It On Late To Pull Away From Sebring For Win, 41-20

SEBRING | Lake Gibson's offense was like a distance runner against the Sebring Blue Streaks on Friday. The Braves started out the box fast, went through a lull, before kicking it into gear in the second half of the race.

Lake Gibson outscored Sebring 28-0 to break a close game open and went on for a 41-20 victory over Sebring at Firemen's Memorial Field on Friday.

Lake Gibson's Trey Congdon threw three touchdown passes, including two to Jordan Smith, and sophomore Thomas Boles scored twice in the second half for the Braves (4-0, 1-0 in 6A-10).

The Braves seemed ready to make this a short night. Congdon hit Smith for an 18-yard touchdown for the game's first score. Then, following an interception by Saderian Perry, the Braves capitalized on a Congdon to Chris Clarke 8-yard touchdown pass.

But following a Lake Gibson punt, Sebring got going. Jacquae Peart turned a short pass into a 31-yard gain to the 1-yard line. He scored a play later to cut the lead to 14-7.

Sebring (1-3, 0-1 6A-10) got even closer on its next possession when Arthur Williams took a reverse, stopped, went the opposite way and weaved his way to a 33-yard touchdown. The point-after attempt was blocked.

Lake Gibson made it 20-13 at the half on a second hookup between Congdon and Smith, this one from 20 yards.

In the second half, Boles came off the bench and scored on runs of 35 yards and 44 yards to break open the game.
