Santa Fe Starts Strong Then Fades in Loss to Bishop McLaughlin, 33-12

LAKELAND | Despite giving up the opening kickoff for a touchdown, Bishop McLaughlin Catholic still dominated Santa Fe Catholic en route to a 33-12 victory Friday night at Crimson Hawks Field.
Bishop McLaughling outgained Santa Fe 383-108 yards in total offense.

The Hurricanes, however, answered immediately on the ensuing drive. It was capped off by a 15-yard touchdown run by R.J. Perciavalle with 7:17 remaining in the first quarter.
The Crimson Hawks then took a 12-6 lead on long sustained drive capped off by a 25-yard touchdown pass from Martinez to Justin Lucas, who was playing in his first game since being injured in the kickoff classic game.
"Made me feel good and glad to be back," Lucas said.
After taking the lead, Santa Fe gave up 27 unanswered points and never recovered.
Percival's 16-yard pass to Austin Meyers with 7:47 to play in the first half put the Hurricanes on top for good.
"We continued to play hard and give 100 percent on the road," Bishop McLaughlin coach Derrick Alexander said.
The Hurricanes (3-2), who have a three-game winning streak, will host Corner Stone Charter Academy (Belle Isle), while the Crimson Hawks (0-4) will host Mount Dora Bible School for homecoming next Friday night.
