Tremendous Ten: Tyler Brown's Three TDs Push Braves Past Winter Haven, Into Rankings

1 - Tyler Brown, Lake Gibson: The Iowa State-bound senior scored the go-ahead touchdown to help lift the Braves to a 28-24 win over No.4 Winter Haven. He finished with three touchdowns and 135 yards for Lake Gibson, which jumped into the top 10 in Class 6A after the win.

 

2 - Kali Boatwright, Lakeland: The junior volleyball player had 94 kills, 76 digs and 15 aces in five matches last week. Boatwright, who was battling a severe respiratory infection, also helped the Dreadnaughts win the Gold Division in their tournament this weekend.

 

3 - Athena Yang, Winter Haven: The freshman golfer shot a 34 on Oct. 2 for the second time this season.

 

4 - Trent Rains, George Jenkins: The senior scored four touchdowns in the Eagles' 35-13 win over Wekiva on Friday. He rushed for 136 yards in Jenkins' second win of the season.

 

5 - Luke Borders, Winter Haven: The senior threw for 170 yards on 13-of-21 passing against Lake Gibson. He also scored two touchdowns for the Blue Devils.

 

6 - Mike Hall, Ridge Community: The senior had two interceptions in a 35-13 district win over Haines City on Friday, bringing his season total to six.

 

7 - Rovonta Johnson, Kathleen: The senior running back rushed for 105 yards on 13 carries in a 31-7 district win over Bartow Friday. His 69-yard run up the middle helped Kathleen go up by two scores.

 

8 - Chris Nelson, Victory Christian: The Virginia commit had 12 tackles and forced two forced fumbles in a loss to Lake Mary Prep on Friday. He also had one tackle for loss.

 

9 - Tobias Culpepper, Fort Meade: Culpepper caught the game-winning pass with 3:07 left to help lift the Miners over Frostproof 17-16 in a district match-up.

 

10 - Gabriel Walker, Lakeland: Walker Scored two touchdowns in a 33-0 district win over Lake Region on Friday.
