1 - George Jenkins' girls swim team: Broke two records at the Lakeland City Meet on Oct. 11. Kyleigh Firman, Lucy Muller, Hope Saunders and Rachel Lulf helped reel in victories in the 200 medley relay and 200 free relay.

 

2 - Stephen Mutz, Lakeland Christian: Won the 1-meter diving at the Lakeland City Meet and broke a 16-year-old record while doing so. He scored 211.70 to place first.

 

3 - Athena Yang, Winter Haven and Sam Horsfield, Ridge Community: Won the Polk County Golf Invitational on Oct. 8. Yang, a freshman, shot a 77 to win at Willowbrook Golf Course. Horsfield fired a 7-under-par 65 at Providence Golf Club in Davenport. He came in fourth in the event last year.

 

4 - Reggie Allen, Frostproof: The senior safety/wide receiver had nine solo tackles and returned an interception 65 yards for a touchdown for Frostproof, which beat Hardee 28-21 Friday night.

 

5 - Kendrick Holland, Winter Haven: Returned an interception 91 yards for a touchdown and also caught two passes for 76 yards in a victory over Mulberry.

 

6 - Kendall Gant, Lake Gibson: Had two interceptions and forced two fumbles in a 26-0 win over Ridge Community on Friday.

 

7 - Rebecca Wilson, Haines City: The junior had 17 kills and 24 digs to help the Hornets win two volleyball matches last week.

 

8 - Keland White, Landmark Christian: The Patriots' sophomore running back scampered for 295 yards rushing and scored three touchdowns in a 54-24 victory over Foundation Academy on Friday.

 

9 - Dwight Drayton, All Saints: The running back rushed for 127 yards on six carries and scored two touchdowns, one on an 82-yard run and the other on a 60-yard interception return, in a 57-0 win over Temple Christian.

 

10 - Kelly Germain and Lexi Hicks, Lakeland: The hitters are Nos. 3 and 4 in the state in hitting percentage according to MaxPreps. Germain is 13th in the nation in hitting percentage and Hicks only has 36 hitting errors in 25 matches.
