Henderson, Hamilton Run Wild In Lake Wales Victory Over Tenoroc, 38-7

LAKELAND | Justin Henderson provided the big play early and Earnest Hamilton provided the exclamation point for Lake Wales Friday night.

Both running backs each topped 100 yards as Lake Wales routed Tenoroc 38-7 Friday night in a Class 5A, District 9 matchup before 300 fans at Tenoroc Mount Olympus Stadium.

Henderson rushed for 105 yards on just eight carries, including a 75-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter.

"I would like to thank God, my teammates and the offensive line," Henderson said.

Hamilton finished with 102 yards on just seven carries, including a 79-yard run with 45 seconds remaining in the game for Lake Wales.

Despite having two long touchdowns called back because of penalties, Lake Wales still had not problems scoring points. The Highlanders finished with 14 penalties for 102 yards.

The Titans were without quarterback Victor Smith Jr. in the second half. Smith hyper extended his right knee late in the second quarter and will be re-evaluated Monday.

"The kids played hard and are playing for each other," coach Dave Robson said.

Said Lake Wales coach Rod Shafer, "Coach Robson has done a great job with only 21 kids."

Tenoroc (1-6, 0-2) will travel to Frostproof to take on the Bulldogs, while Lake Wales (5-2, 2-0) will face Winter Haven at Denison Stadium next Friday night.
