Trinity Prep Runs Over Santa Fe Catholic, 27-0

LAKELAND | Sophomore Michael Wartski ran for 124 yards including a 25-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter to seal it as Trinity Prep defeated Santa Fe Catholic 27-0, before 250 fans at the Crimson Hawks Field.

Trinity Prep dominated on both sides of the ball, piling up 338 yards in total offense while limiting Santa Fe to just 41 yards, including minus-5 yards passing

"Every play we worked hard, and it paid off in the end," Wartski said.

The game quickly turned against the Crimson Hawks (1-7) shortly after Joe White scored on an 18-yard run for Trinity Prep's first score.

On the ensuing Santa Fe posession, George Waller was stripped by Jarred Herron with just under seven minutes to play in the first quarter.

As Waller was fighting for more yards, Herron took the ball out of Waller's hands and ran in for a 26-yard touchdown to put the Saints (2-7) up 14-0.

"We are going to keep swimming and try to get over injuries," Santa Fe Catholic head coach Billy Dickerson said.

Gibert Kromer hurt his shoulder early in the game for Santa Fe. Kromer's right shoulder was dislocated in the first game of the year, and he hasn't fully recovered from it.

The Crimson Hawks will be taking on Victory Christian Academy next Friday night. It will be a Class 2A, District 4 game, being played at Bryant Stadium.

"Those guys are always tough, and it will be fun to get out there at Bryant Stadium," coach Dickerson said.
