LAKELAND | In their final game of 7-on-7 football for the season, the Geneva Classical Academy Knights defeated the Town and Country Falcons on Friday.
Counting three forfeit victories, the Knights finished 5-5, giving third-year head coach Steve Sloan a 21-12 record overall. Senior Matt Hazelton ended the season as Geneva's all-time leader in tackles with 213 in four years.
On offense, quarterback Daniel Hornsby was 4 of 7 passing for 156 yards and three passing touchdowns. Hornsby rushed seven times for 30 yards and a touchdown. Wide receiver Ethan Whitehurst had three catches for 145 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Nick Strazzulla had three rushes for 49 yards and 2 touchdowns. Fullback Matthew Hazelton rushed four times for 42 yards with one rushing touchdown. Hazelton also had one receiving touchdown. Whitehurst broke the Geneva single-season record for receiving touchdowns with 10.
On defense, linebacker Matt Hazelton led the team with 14 tackles, two for a loss. Cornerback Luke Yates had four tackles and one interception. Safety Nick Strazzulla had nine tackles, two for a loss. Defensive end Jackson Maravilla had six tackles and a sack. CJ McILroy had nine tackles.
