Bartow 24, Sebring 7

SEBRING | The defense for the Bartow High School football gave up a score early against Sebring Friday night, but then not much else after that.

The Yellow Jackets fell behind 7-0 in the first before controlling the Blue Streaks the rest of the way in Bartow's victory in Class 6A, District 10 football action at Sebring High School.

Michael Walker rushed for 97 yards for the Yellow Jackets. Quarterback Dimitri Leverett threw for 82 yards.

Arthur Williams led the Blue Streaks' offense with 45 yards of rushing and Sebring's only touchdown.

"We played a little sloppy. We made a lot of penalties, but these guys will fix it," said Bartow coach Brett Biggs. "The defense was well prepared and made some bnig plays when we needed it. We're now in good position to make the playoffs, and the rest is up to us."

Sebring was limited to only 117 yards of offense and did not complete a single pass until late in the game.

Dimitri Leverett scored on a 2-yard plunge early in the third period, putting the Yellow Jackets ahead 17-7.

Bartow put it away in the fourth with Freddie Stevenson's 20-yard interception return for a touchdown with 5:34 remaining.
