Lake Gibson Duo Picks Up UF Football Offers

By SOLANGE REYNER

THE LEDGER

LAKELAND | Lake Gibson football players Kendall Gant and Kennard Swanson picked up offers from the University of Florida on Monday afternoon, Braves' defensive line coach Robert Whitaker told The Ledger.

Gant is a junior with five interceptions and has recovered three fumbles this season. Swanson, a senior defensive lineman, has already verbally committed to play for Louisiana State University.

The two have helped Lake Gibson to a 10-0 regular season record for the first time in school history. The Braves play Daytona Beach Mainland this Friday in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs.

Gant stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 190 pounds.

"He's rangy, athletic and can cover well," Whitaker said. "He's also a good tackler and has a nose for the ball."

Swanson is projected to play fullback at LSU. He would likely play the same position at Florida, Whitaker said.
