Strawbridge Scores 25 to Lead Kathleen Over St. Petersburg

BARTOW | Senior Christin Strawbridge poured in 25 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as Kathleen overcame a first half deficit to defeat St. Petersburg 60-55 in the second annual Bartow Thanksgiving Shootout on Saturday.
Despite trailing 35-29 at halftime, Strawbridge helped lead Kathleen back and was named player of the game.
"I couldn't do anything without my coach, God, and my team," Strawbridge said.
Destiny Small added 10 points and six rebounds, while teammate Kiara Abram scored four points, and dished out four assists for the Red Devils (4-0).
Senior Zykira Lewis scored 19 points, dished out seven assists, had six steals, contributed two blocks, and grabbed two rebounds as Bartow defeated Harmony, 58-38, in the final game of the night.
"It feels good, it's real good to finally get a win," Lewis said.
Shanti Groover chipped in 11 points and nine rebounds, while teammate Chenya Sealey scored 17 points for the Yellow Jackets (2-2).
"We needed that win," Bartow head coach Richard Murvin said. "It is a team that we will probably see down the road."
In earlier games on Saturday: Strawberry Crest beat McKeel Academy, 57-42, Palmetto beat Lake Region 37-28, Lakewood Ranch beat Jefferson, 40-30, and Gainesville The Rock beat Lake Wales, 67-30.
