Dreadnaughts, Thunder Advance in 4A-7 Girls District Soccer

LAKELAND | Lakeland High School girls soccer coach Craig Nance has been imploring his team to play fast.
The girls seem to have gotten the message.
Lakeland scored three goals in the first 11 minutes and went on to an 8-0 victory over Kathleen in the Class 4A, District 7 quarterfinals at Bryant Stadium.
With the win, Lakeland (17-3-2) will take on Bartow Thursday in the semifinals.
In the first game, Lake Region held off a furious rally from Ridge for a 2-1 victory.
Lake Region (5-9-6) will take on top-seed George Jenkins in the first semifinal game Thursday.
The Thunder got goals from Stephanie Markatos and Kayci Edwards to take a 2-0 lead with 15 minutes remaining.
Ridge's Kyleigh Grundy pulled the Bolts to within one but couldn't get the equalizer. Ridge's season ends at 12-8-5.
