Tremendous Ten: Linebacker David Jones Led Highlanders' Defense

1 - David Jones, Lake Wales: The senior linebacker posted 11 tackles and was the leader on defense in the Highlanders' Class 5A regional final game against Immokalee on Friday night. Lake Wales lost that game 38-21 and finished the season 8-5. The team was the lone Polk County squad to make the regional finals.
2 - Jonathan Smith, Lake Wales: Scored a school-record six goals in an 8-0 win over Tenoroc on Nov. 27. Smith also had a goal in the Highlanders' win over Sebring on Nov. 29. The Highlanders have won three of their four last games.
3 - Railond Garrett, Lake Wales: The junior quarterback accounted for three touchdowns in the Highlanders' loss to Immokalee. He also had 79 yards passing on a 7-of-12 performance.
4 - Elmo Stephens, Auburndale: The senior power forward had 31 points in a win over George Jenkins on Nov. 27. In a loss to Bartow onFriday, he had 25. Stephens leads the county in scoring with 27.5 points per game. The Bloodhounds are 3-1.
5 - Jasmyn Brown, Haines City: The junior had 13 points and 15 rebounds in a 66-64 district win over Bartow on Friday. The Lady Hornets are undefeated in their district.
6 - Hannah Lippincott and Talee Carpenter, McKeel: Each soccer player had a hat trick in a 6-0 win over Santa Fe Catholic on Nov. 29. Lippincott also had the game-winning goal against Sebring on Nov. 27.
7 - Brent Moore and Francisco Gonzalez, Lake Region: Moore and Gonzalez each had a hat trick in a 7-3 win over Bartow on Nov. 28. Moore also had two goals and an assist in an 8-0 win over Lake Gibson on Nov. 29. The Thunder are 8-0 after a 2-1 win over Ridge Community on Dec. 4.
8 - Ashton Robillard, Frostproof: Had a hat trick in an 8-0 win over Avon Park on Nov. 29. She also scored a goal in a 3-2 win over Mulberry on Nov. 27.
9 - Matt Colquhoune, Auburndale: The senior forward had 2 goals and 3 assists in a 9-1 win over McKeel. Auburndale is 9-1 and 6-0 in the district. The Bloodhounds have blanked opponents six times this season.
10 - Kaylaina Young, All Saints: The junior led her basketball team to wins over Auburndale and Tenoroc last week. Against Auburndale, Young had 21 points. She posted 16 points and 14 rebounds against Tenoroc. All Saints is undefeated.
