Bartow Falters in 2nd Round In Georgia

ATLANTA | Wenonah increased its three-point firstquarter lead to 11 points at halftime and defeated Bartow 60- 48 on Thursday night in the Nike Invitational.
Bartow played practically even in the second half but could not mount a rally.
Wenonah led 14-11 after the first quarter then built a 34-23 halftime lead.
Poor shooting plagued the Yellow Jackets in the first half. They shot just 28 percent from the field, while Wenonah shot 40 percent.
Chris Perry led Bartow with 18 points and 12 rebounds. He was 6 of 13 from the field but made just 6 of 11 free throws.
Ricky Williams was the only other Yellow Jacket to score in double figures. He finished with 10 points but shot just 4 of 13 from the field.
Bartow controlled the boards, outrebounding Wenonah 36 to 28. Karlos Odum grabbed 10 rebounds to go along with his six points.
In the first round on Wednesday, Bartow edged Whitfield Academy 66-65 in overtime.
Bartow led by six points at halftime, 35-29, shooting 42 percent from the field. However, Whitfield held the Yellow Jackets to 22 points in the second half and outscored Bartow in the fourth quarter 16-11.
Bartow shot just 36 percent in the second half.
Perry led Bartow with 24 points and 14 rebounds. he shot 7 of 10 from the field.
Odum added 12 opints and 11 rebounds as Bartow again dominated on the boards, outrebounding its opponent, 40-27.
Quincy Childs added 11 points for Bartow.
