The 2012 Class 3A All-State football team was released Thursday, and Polk County was well represented.

Five local athletes made the team, including two first-team selections: Lakeland Christian senior wide receiver Jordan White and Fort Meade senior defensive back Devin McCalebb.

The 5-foot-9, 170-pound White hauled in 43 catches for 737 yards and eight touchdowns for the Vikings. He also rushed for one touchdown. Several schools have shown interest in White, but he has received no official offers.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound McCalebb racked up 71 tackles and three interceptions while forcing and recovering four fumbles for the Miners. He also is not committed to any school.

Frostproof's Cecil Cherry was a second-team selection on defense. The 6-foot-2, 225-pound linebacker recorded 98 tackles, three sacks and two interceptions while forcing one fumble. Though only a sophomore, he has already received offers from Florida and Massachusetts.

Lakeland Christian quarterback Christian Alexander and Fort Meade running back De'Vante Clark received honorable mentions.

The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Alexander threw for 1,954 yards and 26 touchdowns while completing 119 of 205 passes. The sophomore also rushed for five touchdowns.

Clark rushed for 812 yards and five touchdowns on 255 carries despite missing three games with a shoulder injury. The 5-foot-9, 180-pound senior is still uncommitted.

The Class 3A and 4A teams were chosen by newspaper editors and reporters from across the state. Polk County does not have a school in the 4A classification.

The Class 5A and 6A teams will be released today and the 7A and 8A teams on Saturday. Class 1A and 2A were released Wednesday.
