WINTER HAVEN | Sophie Hall's penalty-kick goal with 1:45 left in the first overtime gave Santa Fe Catholic a 2-1 overtime win over All Saints' Academy in the Class 1A, District 6 semifinals Monday night at All Saints' Jahna Field.
Lakeland Christian defeated Fort Meade, 8-0, in the other semifinal setting up Friday night's district title game at 7 p.m. Both teams advance to the Class 1A regional playoffs.
"Qualifying for the state playoffs was one of our goals, and I'm happy for these girls that we were able to accomplish that," Santa Fe coach Robert Aranda said.
Hall, a freshman, scored both of the Crimson Hawks' goals on penalty kicks.
Her first one came with 20:50 left in the game giving Santa Fe a 1-0 lead. All Saints (8-9) tied it with 9:35 to play when Meredith Louisville scored on a rebound off a long shot by Haley Carifi, sending the game to overtime.
Lakeland Christian (21-1) played without leading scorer Bri Folds, who injured her knee in a club game on Sunday.
